Guided tours of Villa Marcello will give you an insight into how life unfolded in Venetian Villas.
Starting from the old courtyard – once at the heart of agricultural life – you can visit the buildings that overlook it. The barns and former granary showcase an unusual collection of machinery used in ancient times in the fields, farmhouses and villa.
The life of women and children is described through beautiful, unremembered wooden tools and games. Carriages and carts are lined up in the long barchessa.
The current owners’ grandfather Alessandro led the cavalry that freed the Villa from the Austro-Hungarian army during WWI. He also forced the Germans occupying the park during WWII to surrender.
The visit continues among the centuries-old plants with a stop at the small chapel and, continuing along the majestic avenue, back to the portico leading to the cellars.
Here, among the old candlelit barrels, you can taste the family’s sublime wines.
